It’s shaping up to be a great year here at Mount Cain, with a solid base of around 60cm at the lower elevations and close to 25cm of cold low-density snow falling over the last 24hrs! You know the deal, this fresh has yet to be skied this week now that we’re back to our weekend operations, so I know where I want to be this Saturday morning.

With January now here, our first event and the most sort after bragging rights on the hill are just one weekend away. The King and Queen of Cain are set to be decided on January 17th. Entry is $20, with sign up in the lodge Saturday morning, for waivers and to collect your included beer ticket to be enjoyed once the racing is done, courtesy of our friends and sponsors Cumberland Brewing Company 🍻

While on events news, Backcountry Fest is exactly a month away and it’s going to be bigger and better than ever! February 7th is the date to bring your backpacks and stick those climbing skins to skis for all things backcountry. Also speaking of climbing skins, our Second Annual Ski Patrol Fundraiser, 12 Hours of Pain date is set, and your endurance training should be well underway! It’s only three short months away on April 4th, early registration will open in February, and we can’t wait to lap the outside of Ridge to 4×4!

Owwoooo! Wolf Pack is back! Sunday’s at 9:30am the pack meets for two hours of race/free-ski coaching with some of Cain’s most talented instructors and skiers. Kids 6 to 14 years old are welcome with the only requirement being able to ride the lifts on your own. Sign up on Saturday in the ski shop for Sunday’s session. $25 per🐺and remember kids 12 and under ski for free, just see the ticket booth for a valid pass for your jacket.

With the successful holiday break now behind us and a semblance of normal Cain rhythm returning to the mountain, few quick reminders, the road to Mount Cain is currently being cleared of snow. If you must travel up prior to Friday midday, please expect to come face to face with our grader and be prepared to back down or wait for a wide spot to pass safely. Tire Chains that fit your tires and that you know how to fit are mandatory for travel on the Cain Road, fit them early and enjoy a leisurely and safe drive to the parking lot.

See you this weekend!
