Snowcat Operator (Groomer)

Mount Cain is looking for a Snowcat Operator (Groomer). Seasonal (Dec-Apr), part-time, $25-$33.50 an hour.

Want to work at one of the most unique ski areas in the province if not the world!?

We’re looking for an experienced operator or two to join the team for this coming winter season. The mountain is predominantly open weekends, Saturday through Monday, with midweek openings in the holiday season and the spring. Schedules will vary on snow conditions and operational requirements, but are flexible and can be tailored to the operator.

Responsibilities include: (but not limited to)

  • Safe and efficient operation of snow grooming equipment, building and maintaining ski runs, lift line tracks and lift load and unload areas
  • Ensure grooming provides a safe and enjoyable experience across the mountain
  • Maintain and operate all equipment as per the mountains proccedures
  • Keep workspace clean and organized
  • Assist in maintaining and cleaning of snow grooming equipment and related machinery
  • Identify and report all maintenance requirements in a timely fashion
  • Assist in repairs and scheduled maintenance of equipment as required
  • Identify any maintenance or operational issues on runs and report to ski patrol
  • Other tasks as required

Job Requirements / Qualifications:

  • A valid class 5 or equivalent driver’s license and logging road capable vehicle
  • Previous experience with snow grooming machinery (Bombardier BR275) an asset
  • Strong mechanical aptitude
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Ability to follow directions while unsupervised
  • Ability to work late and overnight
  • Ability to perform manual tasks such as lifting, shoveling, and moving
  • Must be available to work weekends and holidays
  • Grooming being weather dependent, flexibility regarding shifts & schedule is required
  • This is a Seasonal Position; you must be able to commit to the role for the full Winter Season (December-April).
