Public accommodations bookings open on November 7, 2023 at 6pm.  Please book online.

Accommodations are available weekends, select Magic Mondays from January to April, and during SD85 winter and spring breaks. For a full list of operational days please see the Events page.

Please note that early season weekend bookings (before December 27, 2023) are subject to snow conditions and will be cancelled if we do not open.  All nights after December 27 follow the Mount Cain Cancellation Policy.

Rate Per Night (not including taxes)

  • Cypress and Blueberry Cabins: $375.36 per night, sleeps 10
  • Kapitany Suite: $428.40 per night, sleeps 10 – 12, self-contained suite
  • Kapitany Hostel: 3-person rooms, $102
  • Kapitany Hostel: 6-person rooms $161.16
  • Cain Lodge Hostel: 2 person rooms $51

Additional Information about your booking:

  • MCAPS accommodations are available only during our operational days and the night before an operational day.
  • Accommodations booked for weekends prior to December 27 will be cancelled and refunded if we are unable to open – based on snow conditions.
  • All accommodations booked for weekends after December 27 follow the cancellation policy below, even if the lifts do not run.
  • Check in time is 3pm Fridays.  Check out is 11am Mondays.
  • All Mount Cain buildings are pet free.
  • 3-night mandatory stay December 27- April 1. Weekends are Friday 3pm – Monday 11am.
  • Cain Lodge Hostel rooms are excluded from the 3 night mandatory booking.   Check in/out times remain the same.
  • The hostel rooms in the  Cain Lodge are sold weekly for the upcoming weekend.   Cain Lodge Hostel Bookings open online each Tuesday at 5pm. 
  • All accommodations bookings are first come first served.  You may request to be added to a waitlist should your date/time not be available. Pleae email accommodations@mountcain.com.

If there is an opening, everyone on the list for will receive notice and the first to book on the website claims the reservation. 

Blueberry and Cypress Cabin Information

Equipped for 10 people per cabin: 1 double mattress in the downstairs private bedroom, and a common loft upstairs with foam mattresses: (1 queen mattress and 6 single mattresses).

As you enter the parking lot, rental cabins are on the right. The name is on the front of each cabin. Your designated cabin should be unlocked. Check-in is not required.

CABINS DO HAVE:

  • Propane lighting, propane stove and oven, propane fireplace heating (please do not touch the fragile and expensive mantels in the propane lights.),
  • a low flush toilet supplied by a small water tank and two water containers full upon your arrival.

CABINS DO NOT HAVE:

  • electricity,  wood fireplaces, flashlights,
  • running water (cabins are supplied with water jugs for your stay. If more water is required guests can refill in the water room at the Cain Lodge),
  • bedding, blankets, sheets, towels, pillows,  pots, pans, dishes or cutlery.

Kapitany Lodge Suite

Equipped for 12 people with 3 sets of twin over twin bunks in one bedroom and 2 sets of twin over double bunks in the other bedroom. Kapitany Lodge Suite is located within Kapitany Lodge on the left side of the parking lot. You want to park in front of it. There will be pylons set up with a line between them to keep you out of the danger zone for snow coming off the roof. Your entrance is on the far end of the building and opens directly into the suite. There is a covered area where you can stage your stuff before you enter so as not to track snow in.

KAPITANY SUITE DOES HAVE:

  • Electricity,
  • 2 bathrooms with flush toilets, sink with hot and cold running water,
  • Kitchen, living room and dining area,
  • and a boot drying rack.

KAPITANY SUITE DOES NOT HAVE:

  • bedding, blankets, sheets, towels, pillows,  pots, pans, dishes or cutlery.

Kapitany Hostel

Kapitany Hostel entrance is located within Kapitany Lodge on the left side of the parking lot. You want to park in front of it. There will be pylons set up with a line between them to keep you out of the danger zone for snow coming off the roof. Your entrance is on the TicketBooth side of the building and opens into the boot room. There is a covered area where you can stage your stuff before you enter so as not to track snow in. Each bedroom has a keypad door lock, the outside doors remain unlocked throughout the weekend. Kapitany Hostel is three floors, first floor has boot room and coin-operated shower, second floor has rooms #1-7 and both washrooms, the third floor has room #8, couches, dining tables and kitchen with access to the deck with BBQ.

KAPITANY HOSTEL DOES HAVE:

  • Electricity
  • 2 bathrooms with a flush toilet, sink with hot and cold running water,
  • 2 refrigerators, kitchen, living room and dining area
  • and boot drying rack.

KAPITANY HOSTEL DOES NOT HAVE:

  • bedding, blankets, bath towels, pillows, pots, pans, dishes, cups, and cutlery.

There is NO cell phone service once north of Campbell River. Cell service can be found in Woss but prepare appropriately for your drive. For  weather and road updates  look at Drive BC cameras, use local weather reports, check the Mount Cain Facebook page, weekly emails and our Snow Report.   Winter tires and tire chains are necessary, carry them, know how to put them on, and use them.

Electric Vehicle charging stations can be found at the Sayward Junction gas station  and in Woss on Englewood Drive.  Use BC Hydro’s EV Map to ensure you have a safe trip.  Mount Cain cannot provide any charging facilitites.

Parking

For snow clearing purposes, overnight vehicles must park ONLY on the uphill side (the ski-lift side) of the parking lot. DO NOT PARK OVERNIGHT ON THE PARKING LOT’S LOWER SIDE. Make space by parking vehicles close together. Do not park in front of the entrances to the cabin roads or in front of the lower lift access ramp.   Look at the Getting Here page for more infomation.

Sharing the Work

Mount Cain is a volunteer-driven ski hill. Please share in the work to ensure Mount Cain’s ongoing community spirit and success as a North Island recreation destination. Feel free to shovel snow from stairs, walkways or the lodge deck, help park cars, pick up litter, take out the trash, and/or bring in firewood, etc.   If you would like to volunteer for a Mount Cain event please email info@mountcain.com.    Check the Events Page

Turk’s Tavern – located in the Cain Lodge

Turk’s Tavern offers breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks and beverages on days when the ski lifts are operating. Visa and MasterCard accepted.  Operational hours are approximately 8am to 10:30pm. Quiet time/ Closing time is 11pm.

Please note that groceries are not available at Mount Cain.

Emergency Messages

Emergency email messages can be sent for someone on the hill: ticketbooth@mountcain.com. In the case of an emergency a phone is available at the Mount Cain Ticket Booth during the ticket booth’s hours of operation (8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday), The cost is $5.00 per phone call.

Snowmobiles Policy

Visitors to Mount Cain should know that private snowmobiles are not allowed on Mount Cain Alpine Park Society property, nor in the cabin area. In the cabin area, the only allowed snowmobiles are those owned by cabin-owners and these snowmobiles must have liability insurance through the Snowmobile Association of BC.

Off Hill Accommodations

Sointula’s Alpine Cabin, formerly known as the Malcolm Island Lion’s Cabin is now privately owned. It can be rented through AirBnB.  It is located on the Lower Cabin Road and includes 2 rooms with 2 triple bunk beds, a kitchen and living room.  Visit Sointula’s Alpine Cabin for more info and pictures.

Lazy Acres Farm and Suite – Located in Sayward, 40 minutes south of the Mount Cain turn-off, between Campbell River and Mount Cain. Located just off highway 19, they offer 3 luxury suites, an outdoor wood fired sauna, private beaches/fishing along the Pristine salmon river and many trails to explore on the 65 acres property.  Lazy Acres – Farm & Suites (250) 282-0050

Sayward Valley Resort – Fisherboy Park – Located in Sayward, 40 minutes south of the Mount Cain turn-off, between Campbell River and Mount Cain. Turn right at the Sayward Junction. The property offers a park-like setting with lots of trees and grass, just steps away from the Salmon River. Located in a central location in the Sayward valley, we are adjacent to a gas station, and restaurants and have a small general store on site.  Winter camping?
