While we’ve had some very pacific island conditions come through this week, we’re confident we’ll hold on to enough coverage to start our spring break festivities this weekend, kicking off with our Cain family favourite Kids Fest!

We’ve got prizes galore gathered up from a whole list of awesome sponsors, tons of free fun for young and old, a jam packed schedule and a currently favourable forecast for Saturday! So gather up your favourite race costume, hone your sculpting skills, prepare your stuffy downhill sled, pack your dancing shoes for Rockn’Nick & the Hazbins-Wannabees! Cain is for Kids Fest this Saturday/Sunday.

There’s still accommodations available for this weekend and for the midweek while we’re open for spring break in both Kapitany and the Cain lodge. There’s snow in the long range in between the promise of some spring sunshine, the garden can wait, Cain is still spinning!

We have some spring time favourites returning and some surprises for our midweek opening of full mountain operations Monday to Friday next week 23-27th of March.  Snowshoe Baseball is scheduled for March 26th at 4pm, so dust off those misery slippers and dig out that mitt, the North vs South rivalry continues! Prepare to loosen those hips just prior to the game, there’s also salsa lessons in the lodge starting at 1pm 😉 The fifth annual Big Wave Gathering is also stacking up to be ridden next Saturday March 28, wax that board!

Currently it’s hovering around 4°C at 1260m with light showers, they’re forecast to continue until a cold change Friday afternoon with freezing levels dropping back below 1000m. The road was extremely slippery last weekend and could be similar this Sunday/Monday so make sure those chains are still packed and ready.

This weekend is also Malakai’s Memorial Cup, a community hockey tournament taking place March 20–22. So wherever you find yourself sliding in the north island this weekend its set to be a sweet start to spring!
