Viking Backcountry Fest is mere days away! We’re praying to Ullr to be kind to us on the weather front for this weekend, but we are a go for our biggest event of the season so far!
There’s an absolute stacked line up, kicking off with an outdoor movie night on Friday night, a ton of really exciting mini courses being put on by the awesome Island Alpine Guides and Vibe Backcountry Education (signup Friday 8:30pm) on Saturday. Avalanche Canada will be giving a briefing at 7:30am in the lodge on conditions and real time interpretations of the forecast and a Beacon practice field to test your transceiver from 11am. Sunday IAG are holding a guided tour with movement skills and terrain recognition skills focus. So get you gear together and come learn with us!
Not to be forgotten is all your favourite Viking Fest activities as well, so strap your Beacon under those furs and prepare to tug of war in the beer garden while Ianspotting set up to play live music into the evening. There’ll be a raffle with a bunch of awesome gear from our event sponsors and tap beers from Cumberland Brewing Company and Devils Bath Brewing Co. So bring cash and be in the running to update your gear closet.
Our ski shop has some positions vacant and could use some hired help in retail, ski tuning and instructing. Especially over the upcoming spring break. So if you or someone you know is interested in working in our awesome ski shop or sharing the stoke on the slopes drop a line to LTANAKA@MOUNTCAIN.COM
Currently it’s just dipped below zero at 1260m (mid face) and back to lightly snowing. The road still has slippery snow from 10km and up in patches, so make sure those chains are still on board and fit. This wont be a weekend you want to be stuck below the parking lot.
See you soon for some Öl and telemark turns!
