Sadly we are postponing our opening weekend again this week. Although we did have some snow recently, it’s certainly not been enough to open and with the current forecast showing freezing levels climbing above our mountain top we’re going to have to hope for a Christmas miracle. Our next possible opening date is December 20th. So keep an eye out next Wednesday for the official word on when we’re planning to open.
Some positive news, if you’re in Nanaimo this weekend and need a crisp Mount Cain high five, we’re going to be at the opening of the new MEC store! So drop in and say hi, we’ll have a booth setup and would love to chat all things Cain.
If you’re a beginner and can’t wait to at least slide on something, our friends over at Mount Washington are doing their best to open their beginner terrain this weekend for their discover lessons and have a bunch of off snow fun lined up for their opening weekend.
Another unfortunate update on the ski bus that was proposed to operate this season to Mount Cain from the South Island has been postponed for this season. WEA Charters are working hard on sorting out the permitting and approvals for the service and are planning to be ready for the 2026-27 season.
In the meantime, keep those snow dances up and maybe add snow to your Christmas lists before sending them off to Santa!
