Accommodations are available weekends, select Magic Mondays from January to April, and during SD85 winter and spring breaks. For a full list of operational days please see the Calendar. 

Please note that early season weekend bookings (before December 26, 2025) are subject to snow conditions and will be cancelled if we do not open.  All nights after December 26 follow the Mount Cain Cancellation Policy. 

Rate Per Night (plus taxes) :

  • Cypress and Blueberry Cabins: $425 per night, sleeps 10 

  • Kapitany Suite: $485 per night, sleeps 10 – 12, self-contained suite 

  • Kapitany Hostel: 3-person rooms, $125

  • Kapitany Hostel: 6-person rooms $225

  • Cain Lodge Hostel: 2 person rooms $60

  • ‘Namg̱is Papikałan Community Cabin: $485 per night, sleeps 12 in four bunk rooms

Additional Information about your booking: 

  • MCAPS accommodations are available only during our operational days and the night before an operational day. 
  • Accommodations booked for weekends prior to December 26 will be cancelled and refunded if we are unable to open – based on snow conditions. 
  • All accommodations booked for weekends after December 26 follow the cancellation policy, even if the lifts do not run. 
  • Check in time is 3pm.  Check out is 11am. 
  • 3-night mandatory stay December 26- March 23. These weekend bookings are Friday 3pm – Monday 11am. 
  • 4-night mandatory stay March 26-30. 
  • The hostel rooms in the Cain Lodge are sold weekly for the upcoming weekend.  Cain Lodge Hostel Bookings open online each Wednesday at 5pm.  
  • All accommodations bookings are first come first served. 
  • All Mount Cain buildings are pet free. **New 2025/2026 – Trialing this season, Cypress & Blueberry Cabin are pet friendly with a non-refundable $50/pet/night pet fee. There is a 2 pets per cabin limit.

 

BLUEBERRY AND CYPRESS CABINS

September 2025 Hakai Energy Solutions joined forces with us to bring renewable energy to the mountain. With grant funding covering materials and the Hakai team volunteering to do the install, we are excited to announce that our Cypress and Blueberry cabins are now solar powered this season. An update on how this enhances your stay in the cabins will be shared soon. – Thank you Hakai! 

Equipped for 10 people per cabin: 1 double mattress in the downstairs private bedroom, and a common loft upstairs with foam mattresses: (1 queen mattress and 6 single mattresses). 

As you enter the parking lot, rental cabins are on the right. The name is on the front of each cabin. Your designated cabin should be unlocked, with your door code posted in the cabin. Check-in is not required. 

**New 2025/2026 – Trialing this season, Cypress & Blueberry Cabin are pet friendly with a non-refundable $50/pet/night pet fee. There is a 2 pets per cabin limit.

CABINS DO HAVE: 

  • Solar lighting, propane stove and oven 
  • propane fireplace heating  
  • a low flush toilet supplied by a small water tank 
  • two water containers full upon your arrival.

 CABINS DO NOT HAVE: 

  • Electricity, wood fireplace, flashlights
  • running water (cabins are supplied with water jugs for your stay. If more water is required guests can refill in the water room at the Cain Lodge)
  • bedding, blankets, sheets, pillows, towels 

KAPITANY LODGE SUITE

Equipped for 12 people with 3 sets of twin over twin bunks in one bedroom and 2 sets of twin over double bunks in the other bedroom. Kapitany Lodge Suite is located within Kapitany Lodge on the left side of the parking lot. You want to park in front of it. There will be pylons set up with a line between them to keep you out of the danger zone for snow coming off the roof. Your entrance is on the far end of the building and opens directly into the suite. There is a covered area where you can stage your stuff before you enter so as not to track snow in. 

KAPITANY SUITE DOES HAVE: 

  • Electricity, central heating, baseboard heat in both bedrooms
  • 2 bathrooms with flush toilets, sink with hot and cold running water
  • Kitchen, living room and dining area, and a boot drying rack. 

2025/2026 season: dishes, pots, pans, cups, and cutlery are back! 

KAPITANY SUITE DOES NOT HAVE: 

  • Refrigerator (you can store coolers outside the door in the unheated staging area under the stairs)
  • Microwave
  • bedding, blankets, sheets, towels, pillows 

KAPITANY LODGE HOSTEL

The Kapitany Lodge Hostel entrance is located within Kapitany Lodge on the left side of the parking lot. You want to park in front of it. There will be pylons set up with a rope between them to keep you out of the danger zone for snow coming off the roof. Please park close to the adjacent car so everyone has space to park. Your entrance is on the TicketBooth side of the building and opens into the boot room. There is a covered area & boot room where you can stage your stuff before you enter so as not to track snow in.

Each bedroom has a keypad door lock, the outside doors remain unlocked throughout the weekend. Kapitany Lodge Hostel has three floors, the first floor has a boot room, the second floor has rooms #1-7 and both washrooms, the third floor has room #8, couches, dining tables and a kitchen with access to the deck with BBQ.

KAPITANY HOSTEL DOES HAVE:

  • Electricity, central heating, baseboard heat in each bedroom
  • 2 bathrooms with a flush toilet, sink with hot and cold running water,
  • 2 refrigerators, kitchen, living room and dining area
  • Propane BBQ

CAIN LODGE HOSTEL

The Cain Lodge Hostel is located above the Café. Up a set of stairs you will find a shared common area, refrigerator, and kitchen with a propane stove. This is the original log building built in the 1970s and early 80s, with compact rooms to maximize space under the steeply sloping roof. The rooms are simple accommodations to suit those who want a place to sleep while they enjoy everything Cain has to offer. All the heat in the upper three floors of the Cain Lodge comes from the wood stove in the Café, so pack a warm(ish) sleeping bag if you plan to leave your door closed!

For the 2025/2026 season we are excited to have running (cold) water in the kitchen, and to have brought back our kitchen items! You will find cups, mugs, pots/pans, plates, bowls, utensils, and coffee/tea pot you need for your stay at Mount Cain is now in the unit, along with some bleach to rinse dishes after washing so that they are clean and sanitized for the next person.

  • Lounge area with couches & dining table

CAIN LODGE DOES NOT HAVE:

  • Indoor toilets (walk down two flights of stairs and outside to the other side of the building to use the new flush toilets)

‘NAMGIS PAPIKAŁAN COMMUNITY CABIN 

The ‘Namg̱is Papikałan community cabin is operated by MCAPS in collaboration with the ‘Namg̱is Band. It is an off-grid cabin that sleeps 12 people in four twin bunkbed rooms. It has propane and wood heat and a marine style toilet (No running water).    

The cabin is located across the lake from the main Mount Cain base area (you can see it from the back deck of the Lodge). Access to the cabin involves a 350 meter walk along a snow groomed road, but not cleared, that starts near the Lower Cabin Road. The trail will be groomed on Friday, but you must be prepared to walk 350 meters (with some uphill), transporting all of your food and gear, in the snow. If it snows a significant amount during your stay (hurray!) the walk back to the parking lot will be much more challenging, even with it being downhill for part of the way!

‘NAMGIS PAPIKAŁAN COMMUNITY CABIN DOES HAVE:

  • Two rooms upstairs with two sets of bunk beds (twin over twin)
  • Two rooms upstairs with one set of bunk beds (twin over twin)
  • One bathroom with a marine style toilet
  • One propane cookstove / oven
  • One wood cookstove/oven
  • One propane wall heater
  • Large lounging and dining areas, including a pullout sofa
  • Dishes, pots, pans, cutlery, cups
  • Cleaning supplies

‘NAMGIS PAPIKAŁAN COMMUNITY CABIN DOES NOT HAVE:

  • Electricity
  • Running Water (the cabin is supplied with jugs of water, that are refillable at the water room in the Cain Lodge) 
  • Bedding, blankets, pillows

Before Driving to Cain

Snow chains must be carried on the Cain Road, you might not need them on the way up but it’s highly likely you will coming down. There is NO cell phone service on the highway north of Campbell River. Cell service can be found in Woss but prepare appropriately for your drive. For Mount Cain road updates and the local weather report, check our Snow Report

Parking

For snow clearing purposes, overnight vehicles must park ONLY on the uphill side (the ski-lift side) of the parking lot. DO NOT PARK OVERNIGHT ON THE PARKING LOT’S LOWER SIDE. Make space by parking vehicles close together. Do not park in front of the entrances to the cabin roads or in front of the lower lift access ramp.

Sharing the Work

Mount Cain is a volunteer-driven ski hill. Please share in the work to ensure Mount Cain’s ongoing community spirit and success as a North Island recreation destination. Feel free to shovel snow from stairs, walkways or the lodge deck, help park cars, take out the trash, and/or bring in firewood, the list is endless. If you’re wondering what to help with ask someone with a radio 😉 

Cain Cafe

The Cain Café offers breakfast and lunch on days when the ski lifts are operating. Cash, Debit, Visa and MasterCard accepted.

Please note that groceries are not available at Mount Cain.

Snowmobiles Policy

Visitors to Mount Cain should know that private snowmobiles are not allowed on Mount Cain Alpine Park Society property, nor in the cabin area. In the cabin area, the only allowed snowmobiles are those owned by cabin-owners and these snowmobiles must have liability insurance through the Snowmobile Association of BC.

Other Accommodations

The cabin formerly known as the Malcolm Island Lion’s Cabin is now privately owned and it can be rented through AirBnB.  It is located on the Lower Cabin Road and includes 2 rooms with 2 triple bunk beds, a kitchen and living room.  Follow this link for more info and pictures.

Rugged Mountain Motel – Located in Woss, a five-minute drive north of the Mt. Cain turn-off on Highway 19, the Rugged Mountain Motel features spacious rooms and comfortable beds. A full-service general store and gas station are just steps away. Call (250) 281-2280.
