What a ride on Roller-coaster! After only just sneaking through with enough snow for an awesome kids fest, to now being quite late with this update due to one of the days of the season today! Coming off of a misty cloud that had the freezing level all the way up above L4 yesterday at sunset, zero to hero is an understatement for this season’s trend. We’re now back up over the meter of snow mark and its still falling!
We were more than stoked to get our annual Kids Fest quite literally off the ground last Saturday, with our organisers and volunteers pulling out all the stops and shovels to make all that was promised and more happen! So thanks to everyone for coming out and making a memorable day! Mount Cain is for the kids always!
We are chest deep in a tele turn into spring break as we speak, so that means we’re halfway into our full mountain all week long opening and the best of spring break events are now stacking up! We’ve got Salsa dancing in the lodge from 1pm tomorrow before heading out to the lake behind the lodge for the Snowshoe Baseball showdown between the North Island Majestic Orcas and the South Island $ĥ_ŧ Hawks. Bring your slow shoes and mitts, it’s on!
This Saturday is shaping up for the return of the Big Wave to wash over Cain. The course dig has begun and a day of Banked Slalom sliding is shaping up to be a fire fifth set. All in support of the Port McNeill skate Park, there’s a whole truck load of sweet prizes on the line. Sign up on the day with the wave been ridden from 10am onwards. Be there or be square 😉
Easter is just around the corner and were open for the four days of full mountain operations from Good Friday the 3rd of April to Easter Monday the 6th. Even more importantly our second annual 12hrs of Pain Patrol Fundraiser is set to start lapping from 7am on Saturday 4th of April, Sign up here There’s some amazing prizes up for grabs and of course bragging rights for the rest of the year 😉
Current conditions have us with 30cms of cold fresh on a firm mist to rain soaked layer, the temp has dipped back down below -5°C now in the lot. The temperature is forecast to stay low and some more snow potentially on the way over Thursday/Friday and with some sunshine set for the weekend.
There’s accommodation availability in Kapitany, the Cain Lodge and Na̱mg̱is Cabin for the rest of spring break! So round up you pow loving snow friends and make it to Cain! The road is slowed and we’re wondering why we have it all to ourselves!?
