Unfortunately it’s not snowing at L1 (1190m)… we’re holding off on mountain operations again.

Although the high pressure ridge has been broken and precipitation has started to precipitate once again, it’s not quite cold enough to resume operations this week 😶‍🌫️ future freezing levels are also not favourable, so its another weekend for other island adventures.

Like going for a slide with our friends at Mount Washington! In true island community spirit, Washy is continuing to honour our reciprocal deal. Meaning both staff and seasons pass holders ski for free on the first day then every other day (no blackouts!) staff receive 50% off and season pass holders 25% off! So theres bo excuse to not keep those ski legs underneath you.

All currently held accommodation bookings will be refunded for this weekend, so if you have a booking please check for an email from accommodations@mountcain.com

Cain Café biennial tender applications are open! Are you or someone you know interested in operating one of the most unique food and beverage establishments on the island! If you’ve been to Mount Cain in the last eight years you’ve more than likely had the pleasure of being served in the Cain Café by Jamie Turko. Jamie has been the embodiment of Cain culture over this time and we love him for it, he assures us he’s not done just yet! We do however want to keep the process open and transparent to any others with interest. So we’d love to hear from you if operating the Cain Café at all interests you. There’s an application form to fill out and more information

Currently it’s a mix of snow and rain (snain) at the lower elevations and measuring 44cms of dense wet snow at 1260m. The forecast has the freezing levels climbing up around 1500m by tomorrow night which means no accumulation on the lower half of the hill.

We’re hoping for a February flip back to full winter!
