We have made the tough decision to suspend mountain operations until more snow arrives. Unfortunately, with the warm dry weather we’ve been experiencing at mountain elevations and the loss of snow it has become unsafe and damaging to our equipment to continue operations. We apologise for any inconvenience and hope we can make it up when mother nature starts playing nice with Ullr again.
All those with Accommodations currently booked for this weekend we will be in touch with you shortly to process refunds. If you have any specific accommodation questions, please reach out to accommodations@mountcain.com
The good news is that Cain Cup was raced this past weekend and the King and Queen have been crowned! Hazel Schmidt and Mark Hutchinson have taken out the honours with Hazel laying down the fastest time of the day at 56:28! With Mark hot on her heels on the long course at 56:29. It’s safe to say the Queens crown was well deserved by the 16-year-old and it looks like a new era has begun!
A huge thank you to all the racers and volunteers for showing up, helping and making this year’s Cain Cup run smoothly, Cain wouldn’t be Cain without you! Also shout out to the patrol and grooming team for making the hill safe and opening as much terrain as possible.
The lower half of the mountain is now down to ~40cms of firm freeze/thaw rain affected snow. With large patches of open ground on the full sun facing slopes. Hopefully we keep some of this base for when the snow starts to fly again 🤞stay in touch, we haven’t abandoned all hope just yet there’s still just under three months before we pack up for the spring!
