Viking Fest is coming up next weekend – Saturday March 8th, dust off those horns blow dry your furs it’s gonna be a time! Come dressed as your best viking and race your friends in the annual dual slalom race down the face. It all ends with a beer garden, axe throwing, giant tug of war with live music generously provided from Bu Von Blume!

The 4th Annual Big Wave Gathering is happening on Saturday March 15th. Some of you may have had the joy of entering this in the previous years but for those who don’t know what it is The Big Wave Gathering consists of a surf flow freestyle competiton / jam / banked slalom race. There will be a BBQ, good tunes and guarenteed lots of smiles.

NEW EVENT ALERT: You may have seen local legend Bill Floyd out on the ridge skinning his little heart out these past couple of weeks, and let me tell you it was not just for nothing! He’s been training for the pain. 12 Hours of Pain that is.

April 5, 2025 from 7am – 7pm we’ll see who can go the distance in our first annual Skin/Ski Relay Event! The route is set to take place up the ridge peaking at L2 with a quick transition and a ski down 4 x 4. The most laps in 12 hours wins!

You can enter as a solo, in pairs or Teams of four.

Registration will open next week, with all proceeds going towards our local ski patrol. Keep your eyes peeled for another announcement and online registration to secure your spot.

With all the fun events, I know one I always looked forward to as a kid – Spring Break!

Spring Break Mountain Hours – Full mountain open: March 15–23 & March 28–30 and Lower mountain open: March 31

Currently it’s 2ºc on the Ridge Run and as we know the weather can change quickly but currently the weather is reading that we may see some sunshine over the weekend.

With Viking Fest coming up this seemed fitting:

‘How to pray to Ullr for snow?

Sacrificial Burning: This is the most classic way to pray to Ullr. Build a fire in your backyard, call your friends, buy a few kegs, and start burning skis, poles, boots, sweaty long johns, etc. Drink all the beers.’

Skål,

Kim
