As the sunsets on another year here at Mount Cain, we would like to thank each and every one of you for the year that was 2025! Without you all Cain wouldn’t be, so cheers and here’s to another 40+ years of skiing at a truly one-of-a-kind ski hill!

We are now past midway through our holiday break of full mountain operations and what a break it has been. With one of the biggest starts to our snow season in recent times. We currently have 60cm of untouched snow depth and around 30cms of compacted snow at out lower elevations. That is to say the current coverage is good, the upper mountain is measuring over a meter in all but the wind effected areas. The temps have spiked over the last couple of days and spring type snow conditions are what we’re being treated to for the start of 2026.

With those rising temps the road is now slippery slush , still to the highway as of this afternoon, with most vehicles chaining up at the start of the climb to the lot at the 5km mark. Take care on the road and opt for chains before actually stuck, its always easier to put chains on in a pull-out on flat ground 😉

Now that 2026 is upon us it’s time to start thinking about your bid to be crowned the King or Queen of Cain! Cain Cup is only three weekends away, on January 17th! So dust off those GS skis and don’t miss your chance at glory only Cain can provide! Sign up on the day and it’s GS style gates on the face with the top ten from each category progressing to a winner takes all on the full course in the afternoon. Don’t miss it!

Now, the Cain Lodge is calling and it’s time to ring in the new year like only Cain can! Here’s to 2026 at Cain!

Cheers, Phil 🪛
